  • This is a very friendly congregation. We were visiting the area and decided to go to the memorial there. Many of the people came up and introduced themselves to us and were extremely kind and loving. We also met many people who were visiting from out of the area... it was like one big happy family. I would definitley go there again.

My one star is for the history of being trespassed and bothered by JWs that have a need to push a single religion on others. Currently I live in an area that is to remote or dangerous for them to trespass. Now I get these creepy letters with printed invitations. They are only creepy because the person sending them seems to think I am their neighbor even if I am 20 miles away in another area. I am sure it makes them feel better to know they are "saving someone" but it seems so backwards to send a handwritten (considered intimate with our modern email) letter to a stranger anonymously. My closest experience to this is of a chain letter marketing program for cosmetic surgery advertising. My wife once got these handwritten anonymous letters about how she needed to get surgery. Included with the letter was a printed add for the superficial surgeon. I could not believe how any business could be so cruel and try to bully a young woman that might not have a good body image of herself ( a common condition/tradition of many young american women.)

It has always bothered me that I have to lock/gate out everybody when I just want to keep out a few people trying to sell things or beliefs. I guess it does keep some thieves out too. I actually only have a locked gate to not have locked doors. Many folks do not understand how nice it is to live in an unlocked house that is open (much glass w/o blinds) to the nature around them more like a nice campsite in the redwoods. This is a spiritual path for many that want to be close to mother earth. The real neighbors know our gate code, and the secrete path, as well as the appropriate times and ways to announce/plan a visit.

On a more positive note I would like to propose that we all create discussions about how we can all respect each others privacy but also include "strangers" in our community. Our community on the Peninsula and in Big Sur is based and built upon the tourist that also come here for vacations. There is a recent trend in our community to keep tourist out. I think this is a result of getting older, and maybe more fearful of others during a time when the popularity of the area is creating more traffic than our roads and infrastructure can accommodate.

A good non-denominational atmosphere could happen during the "open to outsider" times as included on my invitation. Maybe locals and tourist can share conversations about how to create more inclusive events and basically build community. Many of these tourist become locals, and most of the locals were at one time touring the area.

Meeting at this church on 100 Sunset Dr. Pacific Grove.

    Sun: 1PM

Here is my idea approach to an invitation of spirituality. It is by a close friend, or upon seeking it online by a search to get this review!

I have personally known a couple members of this church and they where very nice folks but a little embarrassed about the churches tactics.
